We urgently require a risk specialist for a client of ours to be based in Edmonton responsible for the implementation and performing of risk management and integrating risk into change management, scheduling, cost control, contingency and escalation management for upstream facility projects. This position will support and facilitate the risk and mitigation plans in line with the company's standard risk management process. This role will also ensure effective project risk management and will maintain the project risk register.
The risk specialist will implement and maintain project risk management practices, methods, procedures and tools and will add to the overall risk expertise within the project management team whilst promoting risk owner communication and engagement. This position will support the development of risk mitigation strategies and will lead the risk decision-making process communicating between multiple functional areas within the project. The role will see you presenting residual risk levels to the project management team and monitoring the shift of risk status over the course of the project cycle.
The risk specialist will co-facilitate risk workshops and will prepare work and document meeting discussions enabling risk identification, response, monitoring and control as well as coordinating risk review meetings, assisting team members to identify new risks and re-evaluating existing risks periodically updating the risk register for risk monitoring and tracking. This will drive effective risk management integration with project change management and schedule and control processes. The risk specialist will implement risk management plans in alignment to project objectives and execution and will coordinate the risk training for the project team.

For this position you must have a degree in a related subject alongside 6 to 8 years experience in project, plant, or field risk or reliability experience in the oil and gas industry. You will need to have a solid understanding of the project planning and scheduling processes for projects and have practical knowledge in statistical methods, probability, and risk analysis methods. You will also need experience in WBS, RBS, CBS, and cost elements and estimate recasting. Practical experience in @risk, Pertmaster, or RiskProject risk modelling tools is a strong asset for this position.
