Job description/Person specification

As Senior Field Engineer you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our clients’ assets. You will lead deployment teams in system preparation and installation for both permanent and temporary purposes of the OptaSense Fibre Optic Distributed Acoustic Sensor system on a wide range of jobs
To lead deployment teams and achieve client satisfaction in system preparation and installations for both permanent and temporary purposes of the OptaSense Fibre Optic Distributed Acoustic Sensor system in the Middle East and around the World and to provide high quality, timely, accurate technical support to the regional sales and business development activity carried out from the Dubai office.
To frequently (up to 50%) lead deployment team (comprising both internal and external personnel) on Middle East and global assignments achieving successful completion of System/Site Acceptance Test (permanent system) / System Test (demonstration).
To plan and organise logistics, system, equipment and personnel for temporary and permanent system installations.
The production of build and deployment drawing packs to company standards and the ensuing build and demonstration of the system at Factory Acceptance Test.
To respond, as per the defined requirements, to received Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Quotations (RFQs) covering all technical aspects (design, build, installation, commissioning, acceptance and support) relating to the OptaSense system.
To support the sales and business development activity by assisting in customer meetings, exhibitions and conferences.
Develop, arrange, participate and run technical sales meetings and events such as Lunch & Learns and Workshops
To produce high quality reports (video / media rich documentation / presentations) of field trials / system installations
To deliver to client satisfaction technical training on the use of the system to end users, administrators and maintainers.
To resolve appointed client problems and queries via the OptaSense fault reporting system
To liaise with product development team to provide customer and operational feedback on software features, functionality and suggested improvements
To ensure all works are carried out within the bounds of tight Health & Safety practices expected within the Oil & Gas Community.
The development and upkeep of system documentation such as manuals, procedures, guides, system specifications etc
Must be able to speak English and Arabic fluently. Also be able to read and write English and Arabic to high level.
Reporting
Reports to Regional Technical Design Authority and also functional reporting to ISM Operations Director
Position has no direct reports
Supervisory responsibility of junior posts whilst on detached duty
Financial
Sales – targeted with supporting and delivering prospects to sales team.
Position has no budget responsibility.
Position has responsibility for delivery of assigned tasks and projects with authority to procure equipment and services as required for execution of demonstrations, trials or installations whilst in the field.
External Liaison
Supervision of external supporting contractors / prime contractors
Client interface responsibility during all sales, business development, trials, demonstrations and field installations
Essential Requirements
- First degree in technical discipline: Physics, Engineering, Computer Science etc
- Demonstrable track record in the successful planning, commissioning and installation of fibre optic sensing systems in the oil & gas environment on a global basis.
- Proven experience of systems engineering and field operations.
- Working globally for extended hours at short notice with tight deadlines.
- Customer focussed technical sales experience within a technology focussed discipline / product
- Problem solving with little technical backup
Interaction with a range of international clients and cultures within the oil and gas / military backgrounds
