Location:Montreal,CanadaThe International Bureau for Children's Rights seeks dynamic professionals who hold a graduate degree
(Masters) preferably in international relations, law, sociology, social work, criminology or other related field. Qualifications and skills
The candidate must demonstrate at least 5 years of experience in the following areas:
A good understanding of issues related to human and children’s rights;
Excellent research and analytical skills, knowledge of approaches and methods for monitoring and reporting human and children’s rights violations, especially in regard to data collection, management, analysis and reporting;
A proven expertise in developing training toolkits, in adult education and training of trainers;
Willingness to take part in numerous field missions, with missions lasting several weeks per month;
Good knowledge of the UN system and other international organisations and agencies, instruments and mechanisms for the protection of children's rights and their administrative operation;
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in French and English and another language such as Arabic and Spanish
A work ethic in regards to the management of funds;
An ability to work with minimal supervision, plan own work and meet deadlines;
Motivation, leadership skills and other qualities required to coordinate and supervise the work of experts, assistants, interns and volunteers;
A good professional judgment, sense of responsibility and the ability to exercise discretion with respect to sensitive or confidential information;
Excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of humor and the ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment;
The ability to establish and maintain an effective network of professionals and contacts with government officials, international organisations and NGOs.
Responsibilities and main tasks
The selected candidate will be called to perform the following functions:
Ensure the development and implementation of projects under his or her responsibility, including research, writing reports, producing detailed mapping and assessment reports, development of educational tools, workshop facilitation, monitoring committees and working groups, preparation and facilitation of training of trainers, advocacy towards curriculum reform and logistics in preparation for missions and workshops in the field;
Support and manage work undertaken by a networking of institutions, agencies or governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations in the country under its responsibility; Coordinate and supervise the work of experts, assistant (s), interns and volunteers, if applicable; Perform other duties as appropriate, including administrative, logistical and financial, as required. Establish and maintain an effective network of professionals and contacts with government officials, international organisations and NGOs.
